‘Re-introducing Oshun,’ is an interdisciplinary project using photography, film, prose and objects. Oshun is a West African Orisha from the Yoruba faith and culture and her role concerns, intimacy, beauty, wealth and seduction. This project will be using this deity as a stimulus to discuss black women’s sexual expression.
We are four emerging female artists from the African Diaspora and we are:
- Janine Francois – Creative Director & Producer.
- Stella Odunlami – Curator.
- Zainab Adamu – Head of “Visuals” (Photography & Film).
- Belinda Zhawi – Head of “Words” (Spoken Word Poetry, Narratives & Prose).
It will be a free 10 day exhibition taking place ‘Guest Project’ an artistic space owned by the renowned artist Yinka Shinobare from 07 – 17 October 2013.
The exhibition will close with a celebratory event on 17 October at Lyric Hammersmith.
