[T-Shirt Tuesdays] Blkkangaroo: located on the corner of Blkk heritage & pop culture

‘If found please return to the Motherland…’ I came across Blkkangaroo a few months ago and loved the simple yet bold delivery of their designs (and the models they used were dashingly handsome!) The brand which was created by Toronto-based collective of African origin, is inspired by a desire to celebrate the various places where black people come from:

“the countries, cities, neighbourhoods and beaches we call home. We like to think of BLKKANGAROO as a shuttle calling at Lagos, Brixton, Brooklyn, Kingston and Bahia. A melting pot of ideas, cultures and histories of black origin.

The collective’s inspirations are a clear indication of this cultural mash up: Fort Greene, Afro Punk, Dancehall & Soca, Cabo Snoop, passport stamps and rum punch. A fresh take on the African aesthetic, BLKKANGAROO is about the colour, texture and vibrancy of an ever-transforming people. It brings together ideas and perspectives from a shared history of movement. You can find them located at the corner of Blkk heritage and Pop Culture.
