Boxed: Fabulous Coffins from Ghana & the UK is a vibrant collection of bespoke coffins from the famous Paa Joe workshop in Ghana and Crazy Coffins in Nottingham. Coffins in many unexpected forms, from a Mercedes to a giant cocoa bean to a flying kite, are brought together to tell the story of those who chose to celebrate their life and death in a uniquely designed way.
The exhibition is part of The Southbank Centre’s Festival for the living is a 3 day event that looks at the one thing that connects us all regardless of our journeys in life. A series of talks, films, concerts and wokshops look at different aspects of death.
“It’s about hearing the powerful stories and surprising facts from the people who have had to sort out practically and emotionally how to face up to the greatest and most challenging of all certainties.”
