Introduce yourself
My name’s Octavia Goredema and I’m the founder of a social enterprise called the Twenty Ten Club.
The Twenty Ten Club is a networking organisation for Black female entrepreneurs. I started the club in March 2010 while I was working on my first start-up. I realised from my own experience how important it is to connect with other business owners to share ideas, resources and basically support one another, so I decided to start the club.
I host monthly events for our members in London and I also interview successful Black business women on our website.
I’m passionate about sharing the stories of Black female business role models. I love using the interviews to shine a spotlight on their success and hopefully help inspire the next generation of young women who will follow in their footsteps.

This feeling inside I have for you
Deep in my heart
Safe from the guards
Of intellect and reason

I’m inspired by
People who are really good at what they do. I get a kick out of meeting people who have a talent and use it to make a real difference. All of the women I’ve interviewed for the Twenty Ten Club are inspirational to me for that reason.
My icons past/present
My mother, because she’s amazing, smart and tenacious and my husband, because he’s the most intelligent and talented man I’ve ever met.
Thenublack philosophy/mantra according to Octavia Goredema
Believe in yourself without question. You can do whatever you put your mind to and don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise.
