[Event] Afrotropolis Wanderland: Black history through fashion – Feb 4th, Toronto

If you’re in the Toronto area this weekend you might want to check this event out. Kicking of Canadian Black History Month, Afrotropolis is part of TD’s Annual BHM celebrations

Afrotropolis Wanderland is a collaborative effort with creative minds from the worlds of visual arts, fashion and film to create a universe that commemorates different periods in Black history and celebrates the achievements and cultural beacons of people of African origin.

The SUPAFRIK  pop-up shop will also be included in the experience and will feature unique artwork, books, clothes and accessories from artists all over the world that take inspiration from African cultures and history.

Chinedu Ukabam of the fashion design label Chinedesign is the creative director behind this event which also features contributions from filmaker Marcos Fantu and visual artists Jimmy Chiale and Kalkidan Assefa. Afrotropolis Wanderland is sponsored by TD and CBC (as a part of their Then and Now festival in celebration of Black History Month) and Sudbury 99.
