iamthenublack: Kered Clement of Complexd Magazine

Introduce yourself

My name is Kered Asmara Clement, I’m a British-Grenadian and Founding Editor of Complexd Magazine. My first name originated from my father’s name spelt backwards and my second name was given to me by an Eritrean woman.  In Arabic my second name means ‘Made them united’, which is uncanny because Complexd Magazine is about promoting culture, welcoming diversity and embracing togetherness.

Favourite song lyric

Vexation of spirit is a waste of time
Negative thinking, don’t you waste your thoughts
Verbal conflict is a waste of word
Physical conflict is a waste of flesh
Damien Marley – There For You

I’m inspired by

Culture inspires a lot of my features, projects and visual ideas. I believe traditional culture and popular culture combined has the most influential impact on how individuals form their own unique identities. These individuals then become my inspiration.

My icons past/present

My Icons are people who motivate me without even realizing it. They are not celebrities or public figures; they are relatives, friends or complete strangers. I find people who make a small impact in their own way and in their own world iconic.
